Voices of Hope will presents Myth, Magic and Mystery - Where the impossible becomes possible! the annual fall gala show and silent auction benefiting Mass General Cancer Center.
Let your imagination soar as we welcome you to an enchanted evening of musical storytelling where legends come to life, mysteries unfold, and magical moments transport you to a world where the impossible becomes possible. Could the heroes of mythical stories, like Hadestown or Hercules, be real? Does the power of magic lie in spells and potions, or in believing in yourself? Where does mystery end, and discovery begin? Challenge yourself to see beyond the impossible, as we peek behind the masks and curtains, and reveal a reality that could change how people see the world!
Join us for a journey that will stir your soul, spark wonder, and challenge your sense of reality as you visit the whimsical dreamscape of Willy Wonka’s “Pure Imagination”. Peel back the masks to uncover the illusions of “Façade” and “Masquerade” and celebrate your inner strength with the empowering anthems of “Freak Flag”, “Defying Gravity” and “Go the Distance”. Explore the magical myths behind “Superstition”, “I Put a Spell on You”, and “Love Potion #9”, visit the chaotic world of “Wonderland,” then “Ease on Down the Road” into the magical land of our OZ Medley.
Voices of Hope is a registered, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization with more than 150 active volunteer members who share a passion for the performing arts and a desire to join the fight against cancer by raising awareness and funds for cancer research.
Their inspirational performers, whose lives have all been affected in some way by cancer, share stories of hope, loss, and courage through song, dance, and testimonials, allowing for an intimate and inspiring look at our collective fight against cancer.
SPECIAL GUESTS CHRISTINE DWYER & MATT DeANGELIS
Both hailing from Boston’s North Shore, Christine and Matt, who recently starred in Waitress here at North Shore Music THeatre, started crossing paths professionally in NYC in 2010. They finally connected as friends in 2015. They soon realized they grew up just minutes from each other. They knew the same families, attended the same pre-school, and even went to the same parties without ever knowing each other. Married since 2018, the talented duo has toured together in Waitress and often performs together in concerts around the country and the world. They co-own and operate The Working Studio, teaching contemporary techniques to the new generation of musical theater. They are also still connected to the North Shore as the official acting coaches of the Noel Smith Voice Studio in Lynnfield.
Christine Dwyer, a Lynnfield native, found her love of live theatre while attending shows with her mother at North Shore Music Theatre in the ‘90s. Christine has marked more than 1,000 performances as Elphaba in the smash hit musical Wicked, both on Broadway and touring across the United States. She has also been seen in the National Tours of RENT (Maureen), Finding Neverland (Sylvia), and Waitress (Jenna), as well as on the NBC Live version of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Boxford native Matt DeAngelis is returning to the North Shore Music Theatre stage having performed as a Turkey Boy in the 1994 production of A Christmas Carol. Matt has been seen on Broadway in Hair (Woof), Waitress (Earl) and in the ensemble of the recent Broadway production of Swept Away. He has also been seen touring nationally and internationally in productions of Waitress (Earl), Hair (Woof), American Idiot and Once (Svec) and can be seen in the stage production of Waitress starring Sara Bareilles currently streaming on HBO MAX.
