First Friday: Behind the Scenes of Built on Cod

How did a humble fish help shape a nation? Join us for this month’s First Fridays program with a special 30-minute preview of our upcoming exhibition, "Built on Cod: The fish that fed a revolution and shaped an aristocracy".

This behind-the-scenes session explores Beverly’s connections to global cod trade, the surprising folklore surrounding this iconic fish, and the rise of New England’s so-called “codfish aristocracy.” Attendees will learn how cod influenced local identity, commerce, and Revolutionary-era history, and will get an early look at selected themes and materials featured in the full exhibition.
