Welcome to HOPE
Counselling and Relationship Support Coffee Morning
Parenting can feel like the hardest job in the world. There’s no rule book, no perfect answers, and many reasons why family life can feel overwhelming at times. You might be navigating neurodiversity, bereavement, separation, financial pressure, working away from home, domestic abuse, or simply feeling exhausted and unsure. If things feel hard right now, you are not alone.
HOPE is a gentle, supportive group offering a safe and welcoming space to talk about the realities of parenting today. Together, we explore how our own experiences of being parented can shape the way we care for our children – often without us even realising it.
This is a space that is:
Holistic – looking at the whole person and the whole family
Open-minded – non-judgemental and accepting
Inclusive – for parents, carers, and relatives
Curious – supporting reflection, not blame
The group is facilitated as a therapeutic space, not a classroom. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with. My role is to gently guide conversations and activities that support emotional wellbeing for both parents and children.
We’ll explore everyday challenges such as:
Screens and online time
Boundaries and consistency
Parenting through guilt and shame
Sleep, food, and routines
Communication, empathy, and emotional regulation
The aim is to help parents feel calmer, more confident, and less reactive – which in turn supports children to feel safer and more understood.
A little about me:
I am a parent, step-parent, and adoptive parent. I have fostered children for over 12 years and currently work with families who have had involvement with services such as Early Help, fostering, or adoption. I also work creatively with children who have experienced domestic abuse, including coercive control. I have made many mistakes in my own parenting, so I understand how quickly shame can creep in when we feel we’re not doing a “good enough” job. I truly wish I had known then what I know now.
I hold a Degree in Counselling and bring both professional experience and real-life understanding to this work.
Through gentle exploration and shared learning, parents often begin to understand why they parent the way they do, what they might want to change, and how to do so with compassion for themselves. Creative activities are used where helpful, many of which can be adapted for use at home with children.
This description is just the tip of the iceberg.
The group is led, not taught. There are no tests, no expectations, and no judgement – just space to breathe, reflect, and grow.
I am really looking forward to meeting you, hearing about your family, and supporting you in finding what works best for you and your children.
