The Charter Arts Theatre Department continues its season of mystery and mayhem with "Witches!? In Salem?!" a new play by Matt Cox-- a darkly comic, yet historically accurate take on the Salem Witch Trials from the perspective of an 8th grader caught up in a lesson on "The Crucible".
For this production, the department welcomes guest director, Chris Egging who leads a talented cast.
The show runs November 12-16 in the Charter Arts Black Box Theater. Evening performances November 12-15 at 7 PM. Matinee performance November 16 at 2 PM.
(**Recommended - PG 13. This play is based on The Salem Witch Trials and the creative depiction of those events in Arthur Miller's The Crucible. As such, it contains triggers related to violence and executions. )
The Charter Arts Theatre Department offers a pre-professional training program for high school-aged performers. The goal is to provide students with the skills they will need to move on to competitive college programs as well as professional theatre experiences.
Classes are designed to encourage students to create imaginative and compelling characters, to regard their voices and bodies as creative instruments, to expose them to theatrical literature and to instill in them a sense of respect and professionalism for the art form that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Prospective students and families who are interested in learning more about the theatre program and the school are encouraged to attend our Open House event on Saturday, December 6 at 10 AM. RSVP at CharterArts.org.
