Genes, Cells and Discovery in Basic Science and Disease, with Randy Schekman

Nobel Laureate Randy Schekman, a Berkeley professor of Molecular and Cell Biology, has helped reshape our understanding of life itself. In this online talk, he’ll explore the molecular building blocks that define who we are to the cellular processes that drive health and illness. He’ll also discuss how curiosity-driven research in the lab leads to revolutionary insights into disease and opens doors to entirely new possibilities for medicine and human health.

About the Speaker

Randy Schekman is a professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at Berkeley and an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Among his awards are the Gairdner International Award, the Albert Lasker Award in Basic Medical Research and the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which he shared with James Rothman and Thomas Südhof.
