Sanjally Jobarteh

Sanjally Jobarteh comes from one of the principal Griot Families from West Africa, a tradition that dates back to the 13th Century.
Sanjally trained throughout his younger years under the tutorship of his father and master Griot of his generation, Amadu Bansang Jobarteh. Sanjally`s career has witnessed him performing around the world as a soloist, as well as collaborations with top international artists.
When not performing Sanjally teaches Kora to international students at his Mandinka Heritage School in the Gambia. He is now recognised as one of the leading kora players from the Gambia and an expert in the ancient repertoire of the Kora
