This Yume Daiko Beginner's Workshop is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in Japanese Taiko(drumming) to get their feet wet! The three hour workshop will introduce the very basics of taiko; holding sticks, stances, rhythms, etc. The workshop will include some discussion of taiko history and culture.
The workshop will be taught by Yume Daiko leader, Matthew Richards and other Yume Daiko members. The workshop does not require any music background or sheet music reading ability.
Anyone 18 and older is welcome to take this course. Students are not required to be super athletic but taiko is a light physical activity. Please dress appropriately and you may want to wear layers to keep from overheating or getting too cold. You may want to bring your own drink bottle with your favorite hydrating drink but we will have bottled water available.
The fee for the course includes everything you will need; we have taiko and sticks for you to use.
