Join us on Saturday, October 25, for a day-long celebration of art, nature, and community as Bennettsville’s own Deana Chavis Baker leads a Plein Air Workshop on the Murchison and museum grounds. In the event of rain, the workshop will be Saturday, November 8.
"En plein air" is a French term that means "in the open air." It refers to the practice of painting outdoors, as opposed to in a studio, which allows artists to capture the natural light, color, and movement of a landscape or scene. Deana has extensive experience as both a participant and instructor, and she is looking forward to sharing plein air painting with the community where her own love of art began.
The schedule for the day is:
• Arrival & Check-in: 9:00 – 10:00 AM
• Welcome, Orientation: 10:00 – 10:15 AM
• Morning Painting/Drawing Session: Instructor/group demo prep work: 10:15 AM – 12:00 PM
• Lunch Break: 12:00 – 1:00 PM
• Afternoon Painting Session: 1:00 – 3:30 PM
• Group Wrap-up & Q&A: 3:30 – 4:00 PM
