"Twirling and hopping, dancing side by side felt so right,
A nod and a smile, filled with shared, sweet delight.
They saw understanding, peace in each face,
Connected by music, in their own happy space.
No words were needed, just comfort and truth,
New friendships were blooming for each lovely youth."
Hunt for Rockabilby’s Bush Buddies in Hargraves Mall this September School Holidays; Wendy Wombat, Spike the Squirrel Glider, Kip the Koala and Big Rusty the Red Kangaroo; as Louise 'Rockabilby' Cooper launches her new book 'Rockabilby’s Bush Buddies Silent Disco'. The active book reading cross scavenger hunt is designed to engage all of our little wriggle worms who love to move! This modern bush poetry storytelling normalises sensory differences by exploring how different Australian bush animals may react to the sensory excitement of a bush market seeking refuge underground, in big wide open space or up high in a tree, before re-emerging for a silent disco where everyone joins in finding their own volume and rhythm. This accessible and inclusive event will be accompanied by a small selection of market stalls and finished with a silent disco of animal songs from the bush.
"For sometimes the world feels too big and too loud,
Too many bright colours, too much of a crowd.
But finding your refuge, your own special way,
Can help you connect, and can brighten your day!
With tools for your senses, and friends by your side,
We can find our way back to a feeling of peace deep inside."
