Does your teen want to create, shape, and sculpt with metal? This Spring Break workshop introduces teens to metalworking through the lens of art and sculpture, blending creativity with hands-on skill building in the metal shop.
Students will learn how raw steel can be cut, heated, bent, welded, and transformed into expressive, three-dimensional artwork. With guidance from an experienced instructor, teens will explore the tools and techniques used in metal fabrication while designing and building their own metal art or small sculpture to take home.
Safety is a top priority, and each student will be trained on proper tool use before jumping in. Throughout the workshop, teens will gain confidence using real shop equipment while experimenting with form, texture, and structure.
This class is a great fit for teens who like to make things, think visually, and want to try working with industrial tools in a creative, supportive environment.
What you’ll learn:
- Metal shop safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- How to safely operate a MIG welder
