Autumn Stained Glass Workshop - Enchanted Pumpkins!
Date: Session 1: Sunday, Sept 21, from 1:30-4 PM
Session 2: Sunday, Sept 28, from 1:30-4 PM
Witches and ghosts and falling leaves! This autumn, create an enchanted stained glass pumpkin sun-catcher! A condensed two-day beginner workshop will introduce you to the fine art of Tiffany-style stained glass.
All materials will be provided, including glass, patterns, tools, and equipment.
Session 1: An immersive introduction to stained glass; students will choose from a beautiful assortment of stained glass to complete a unique pumpkin. Students will have hands-on learning experience using tools to score and cut glass and will complete a rough layout of their glass projects.
Session 2: A brief tutorial on the history of stained glass, the different types of glass, and stained-glass styles. A short video will be shown on how sheets of stained glass are made. Students will then learn the Tiffany method of copper foiling and preparing their projects for soldering. Each piece of glass will be edged with copper foil and students will be amazed at how their projects transform into beautiful works of art!
Bonus! Students may choose to customize their pumpkins with decorative wiring. A brief tutorial on wire work will be offered at the end of session 2.
Grinding and soldering will be completed by the instructor. Completed projects will be available for pick-up at SCAHC after (date).

*If you wear readers, bring them! You will definitely need your eyes.
*Closed-toed shoes and safety glasses are recommended, especially when cutting glass.
