The Light of Hope Returning - An American Folk Oratorio for Winter Solstice

Join Vox Pacifica and guest musicians Kian Dye, fiddle • David Jones, cello • Bruce Maurier, bass, Fred Winkler, soprano sax • Mehrdad Gholami, flute on December 5 & 6 and let us wrap you in a warm blanket of music and community with a musical homage to the holiday season and winter rituals. The Light of Hope Returning by Shawn Kirchner is a folk oratorio that taps into the lush variety of American musical heritage featuring offerings of new carols and arrangements of familiar ones.
Accompanying the music will be the hand-drawn animations of celebrated New York-based Syrian-American artist Kevork Mourad who is well-known for his collaborations with classical musicians including Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad. Let us gather as community at the hour of greatest darkness, experience the rebirth of light, and find hope again.
