Swing your partner and promenade down to the Fairhaven Library for a community square dance and potluck!
Don't know how to do-si-do or allemande left? No problem! No experience or partner necessary. All dances will be taught by Henson Burk-Fawcett, and a live band WAM Stringband will be providing old-time music for your dancing pleasure.
~What should I bring?~
A dish to share. If you can, bring a label with ingredients for people with dietary restrictions. No time to cook something? No problem! Come enjoy a delicious potluck meal anyhow 🙂
~What time is all this happening?~
6–7 p.m. Eat and talk and make friends!
7–9:30 p.m. Dance and laugh and cry tears of joy!
9:30–10 p.m. Help clean up if you can!
~Can I bring alcohol?~
No, but non-alcoholic beverages are welcome.
~Does it cost money?~
A $12–15 donation would be much appreciated. $8 for students. All money goes to paying the band and callers and supporting more community square dances.
This dance is the second in a spring square dance series I'm organizing in collaboration with the Bellingham Country Dance Society. Every third Saturday through May. For more dates, visit

~About the band~
The WAM Stringband is a part of the Western Americana Music (WAM) club of Western Washington University. Since the club formed in 2024, WAM Stringband has played a variety of events, including square dances, concerts, and puppet shows. The WAM Stringband has performed at the North West Folklife Festival, the Bellingham Folk Festival, and at many venues in the Bellingham area. The WAM Stringband recently recorded an old-time music album, which will be released on Bandcamp soon. While the WAM club operates separately from the band, they both are committed to creating spaces for all people to enjoy and participate in folk music. Instagram: @wwu.wam
