Burrinja in the Making Art Workshop
Sun 10 Aug 10.30am - 1.30pm | Burrinja Arts Workshop
Whether you're a complete beginner or a trained professional, this workshop will appeal to anyone with an interest in folk-style botanical art. Not only will you learn about and become inspired by traditional folk art from around the world, but you will be carefully guided step-by-step, to create your own folk-inspired botanical drawing.
The process that you'll be taught over the course of the workshop, is one you'll be able to take with you to continue to develop and expand upon if you wish, and you'll be provided with take-home reference materials to assist and refresh your memories from throughout the workshop.
Your experienced guide and teacher for this workshop is Hills-based artist Elizabeth Gleeson, whose practice revolves around incorporating her love of folk art, nature, art nouveau and complex patterns into her characteristically intricate and beautifully nostalgic paintings and murals. Internationally recognised, Gleeson’s vibrant and captivating artwork has been featured in British Vogue and Art/Edit, as well as being profiled as a feature artist in the Grand Designs Australia magazine. From smaller, local commissions to international, multi-storey building murals, Gleeson’s passion for folk-style botanicals is both immediately evident and impossibly contagious.
Aside from being a regular Dandenong Ranges Open Studios participating artist, Gleeson has been regularly working with and educating people of all ages and walks of life, imparting her skills, knowledge and passion for drawing, painting, and murals.
Surprise yourself, and be inspired and guided to create a work you’ll be truly proud of.
