Art Workshop with Hope Lopardina and Mikha Mutabor
Every Sunday we gather to paint, discuss art, and search for our own visual language.
The course is divided into two parts:
1.5 hours of practice — oil, tempera, and other materials (you can choose what to work with). Here we experiment, make mistakes, and learn a new — without pressure to achieve the “right result.”
1.5 hours of theory — conversations about 20th–21st century art based on the book Art Since 1900. This is not a top-down lecture but an open discussion: how the ideas of artists from the past century can inspire us today.
Our Visual Arts Laboratory is a space not only to gain basic drawing skills but also to develop artistic thinking. We will work from life, explore expanded painting, and discuss what it means to make art here and now.

Workshop leaders:
* Hope Lopardina (b. 1984, Krasnoyarsk) — an artist exploring the boundaries of bodily experience through painting, installation, and thermophotography. She graduated from SPBGATI as a stage designer, studied in the contemporary art workshop of Arseny Zhilyaev, and is a co-organizer of KP Radionica. Lives and works in Belgrade.
* Miha Mutabor (b. 1981, St. Petersburg) — artist, designer, and street art author. He studied art at Herzen University. In painting he moved away from canvas toward constructions made of corrugated cardboard, defining his style as “pseudo-ethno-expressionism.” Since 2007 he has exhibited in Russia and abroad, and since 2019 has actively worked in street art. His works have been shown in St. Petersburg, Pskov, Novosibirsk, Belgrade, and Tbilisi.
Come if you’ve always wanted to start painting but never dared, or if you’re looking for a space where you can freely experiment and express yourself through visual language.
