Graft Collective invites you to a special screening of Nostalgie, followed by a live conversation with the film’s creative team. Nominated for the BAFTA Short Film Award this year, Nostalgie is a 19-minute short exploring memory, authorship and the afterlife of cultural production. Following the screening, we will be joined by Kathryn Ferguson (director), Wendy Erskine (writer), and Marie-Thérèse Mackle (producer)- for an open Q+A.
Founded to create space for cross-disciplinary dialogue across film, writing, architecture and art, Graft Collective approaches “grafting” as a method and metaphor- the joining of forms, ideas and practices to produce new growth. This event continues that inquiry, bringing together filmmaking and literary practice in conversation around process and collaboration.
Perfect for all, from aspiring film students and film enthusiasts, to anyone simply curious about how a short film comes to life, this evening offers a relaxed and insightful look at the journey from page to screen. From writing and development to directing and production, the conversation will open up the collaborative process behind Nostalgie — how ideas are shaped, translated and “grafted” across disciplines. Whether you’re interested in storytelling, visual language, producing, or simply love independent cinema, this is an opportunity to hear directly from the creative team about the realities and rewards of filmmaking today.
We can't wait for you to join us at Beanbag Cinema for a thoughtful screening and open discussion, in collaboration with Belfast Film Festival, as part of Graft Collective’s ongoing programme cultivating cultural exchange in Belfast.
