Introducing our lovely team member Cerrie 🥰🥰🥰 cerrie will be starting our dance/circus skills workshops beginning on 13 October!
We are so glad to have her on board. A wonderful, enthusiastic and caring person from the inside out. Here's what cerrie has to say :
"My journey in dance and performing arts started around 25 years ago. My philosophy is that anyone can dance, and movement and dance heals the soul and the mind.
25 years ago, I started an inclusive dance company which toured the local area, performing at events and local festivals. This group focused on people's ability and each performance showcased the creative and different ways people can move to music.
I also started training in different disciplines, including aerial arts and partner acro. I taught aerial arts for 12 years and ran aerial hoop classes for a wide range of young people, including those with special educational needs and behaviour that can challenge.
I also danced and performed aerial competitively, and placed in a national competition.
This led me to focusing more on acro and other partner based aerial work, and I performed at festivals in the circus areas, teaching workshops after performances. This led me to several summers of performing in circus areas, and at one point even trying trapeze!
What to expect from the workshops
The workshops will blend dance and physical circus skills, and focus on exploring movement in different ways.
Each workshop will be structured to include a physical warm up followed by individual and partner work. You will learn how to link movements together, perform with flair, and incorporate circus theatrics into a dance motif.
Each workshop will cater to the abilities of its participants and could include anything from putting together a dance routine to your favourite song, learning how to tumble, handstand and partner acro balance or just expressing yourself to music.
