Presented by Appalachian Power, the Bedford Forum is not a debate but rather a civil informational session for Bedford voters leading up to Election Day. Opposed, balloted candidates representing the Town or County at the local or state levels will have a chance to answer moderated questions at this community forum.
Doors open at 5:00PM. This free event will be moderated by Tim Saunders, Deputy Director of the Central Virginia Workforce Development Board. It will also be available for viewing on Facebook Live.
Candidates who have RSVP'd for this event include:
General Assembly, District 51: Joy Powers (Democrat) and Eric Zehr (Republican)
General Assembly, District 53: Sam Soghor (Democrat) and Tim Griffin (Republican)
School Board, District 4: Travis Engel (Independent) and Jill Dobson (Independent)
Community members are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates prior to the event. Voters are also welcome to mail questions for submission to the Bedford Chamber office at 305 E. Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523. All questions must be received at least a week prior, on August 28. We will not accept questions on-site.
