Intro to Gelli Printmaking Weekend Workshop at That Creative Spaec

In this two-day, 2.5 hour workshop we’ll explore the playful and expressive world of Gelli Plate printmaking— a vibrant, press-free method for creating one-of-a-kind monotype prints.

You’ll experiment with stencil design, layering techniques, color mixing, and textured materials to build a personal series of abstract or representational prints.
Along the way, we’ll look at how artists past and present have used monotype to create powerful visual language — and tap into your own creative instincts through hands-on exploration.

This is made for beginners but it's a great class to try if you enjoy collage or have always wanted to explore more mixed media processes in your work.
Expect two weekend mornings of:

• Designing and cutting your own paper stencils
• Printing with fabric scraps and textured tools
• Learning additive and subtractive techniques
• Mixing inks and layering color
• Reflecting on your creative process in community

All materials provided. A $20 materials fee is included.
Limited to 10 participants to ensure plenty of individual support.
Open to adults and teens 16+.

Taught by Amanda Baker, a Brooklyn-based artist and educator with a passion for the natural and the uncanny. Amanda holds a BFA in Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and an MFA in Printmaking with an Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning from Pratt Institute. Her work reimagines animals and nature through a speculative lens. She’s a recipient of the 2023 Weiss Student Scholarship Award and a Pratt Graduate Student Engagement Fund grant.

Please note: This workshop runs Sat. Sept 28 and Sun. Sept. 29 from 11 am - 1 :30 pm. We recommend you arrive 10-15 minutes to get settled before the workshop begins. We'd like to start on time to give the most about of time to play and enjoy learning the process of Gelli Printmaking.

That Creative Space is located at the 333 Fishkill Ave, Beacon NY (inside the Beacon Music Factory). Free parking is available onsite.
