Freezin’ for a Reason! Bay City Polar Plunge Returns January 10th, 2026
Ready to chill out? Bay City Parks & Recreation dares you to start the new year with a splash at the 2026 Polar Plunge on Saturday, January 10th at 9:00 a.m. at Hillard Pool, 3020 Le Tulle.
This bone-chilling tradition calls on the bold, the brave, and maybe even the slightly bonkers to leap into the icy waters of the Colorado River. Whether you belly flop, cannonball, or tiptoe in, one thing’s for sure — it’s going to be snow much fun!
After the plunge, participants can thaw out with hot cocoa, donuts, and plenty of bragging rights. Costumes are encouraged (because nothing says “polar bear chic” like a tutu or superhero cape in 50-degree water).
“Every year we’re amazed at how many people are willing to put the brrr in bravery,” said Kelly Penewitt, Parks and Recreation Manager. “It’s not just about the plunge — it’s about laughter, community spirit, and starting the year with an unforgettable story to tell.”
