Vernal Pool Discovery Hike

Long winter getting to you? Look ahead to spring at the Bengel Wildlife Center!

On Friday, March 27th at 5:30pm, Drew Monks, Director of Wildlife Programs, will be leading a Vernal Pool Discovery Hike! Vernal pools are unique wetlands that fill with water in early spring and support dozens of species of unique frogs, salamanders, insects, plants, fairy shrimp, and much more! Learn about how to identify and locate vernal pools, why they are critically important, and what types of critters rely on them for habitat.

This is an all-ages event! Please plan on wearing study boots- we expect the trails to be a little bit soggy in March! Hike departs from the Wildlife Pub and grill. We anticipate hiking about 3/4 of a mile- then stick around for dinner and drinks at the pub!
