Poetry Slam

Independence County Library invites local poets and spoken word enthusiasts to an evening of rhythm, rhyme, and raw talent at a Poetry Slam on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. This 18+ event will be held on the first floor in the Café—accessible via the Water Street entrance.

Participants will present original work, judged on both writing and performance. Competitors should bring three original pieces in case of a tie-breaking round. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.

Entry is free for both competitors and spectators, with registration at the door. Enjoy the show with a drink or dessert in hand—Rocket Brew Coffee will be open during the event, slinging their signature drinks and dishing out delicious treats.
