Calling all homeschoolers! Dive into an exciting SciTech Afternoon featuring three dynamic classes tailored to three different age groups—each exploring the fascinating world of Marvelous Materials!
Homeschool: Buddies (Ages 3-6)
In this playful, hands-on class, young homeschoolers will explore the fascinating world of matter through sensory-rich experiments. Children will discover how solids, liquids, and gases behave, and watch safe, colorful reactions that demonstrate simple physical and chemical changes. They’ll also experiment with stretchy, squishy polymers like oobleck or slime, feeling and manipulating materials while learning cause and effect. Mixing, pouring, stretching, and molding makes science tactile and exciting, while short, guided activities keep young learners engaged. This class encourages curiosity, creativity, and early STEM thinking—all at a comfortable pace for growing minds.
Homeschool: Explorers (Ages 7-11)
Homeschoolers in grades K–5 will dive deeper into the world of matter, chemical reactions, and polymers in this hands-on STEM class. Students will explore states of matter through experiments with solids, liquids, and gases, investigate chemical vs. physical changes, and create fun polymers like slime and oobleck. They’ll make predictions, observe changes, and test how different materials respond to heat, mixing, or stretching. Kids gain real-world understanding of chemistry concepts while building observation, problem-solving, and scientific thinking skills—all through playful, hands-on exploration.
Homeschool: The Lab (Ages 12-18)
Middle and high school homeschoolers will investigate the science of matter, chemical reactions, and polymers in a supportive, hands-on environment. Students will explore states of matter, test physical vs. chemical changes, and experiment with polymers and mixtures to observe transformations first-hand. They’ll apply critical thinking to design experiments, make predictions, analyze outcomes, and refine their methods, building deeper understanding of how materials interact. Hands-on projects, observation, and discussion spark curiosity while strengthening STEM skills and problem-solving confidence.
