We're paddling to Odiham Castle and we'd love for you to join. This is an unforgettable experience as you paddle through history. This ruined castle situated in Hampshire is one of only three fortresses built by King John during his reign. It's said that the site was chosen by King John because it lays halfway between Windsor and Winchester.
Join the Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) community for a day of paddling, skills check, improvers coaching, the great outdoors, and picnic-ing. Providing you with expert coaching from award winning Paddle UK qualified Coaches and leaders at your fingertips! No one misses out on friendly guidance and tuition.
THE ROUTE: Basingstoke Canal | 4 mile (6.5km) paddle
Take in the beautiful scenery as you pass by open fields, tree lined banks, and hopefully spot Hampshire wildlife such as deer, kingfishers, red kites and heron's. Pass Newlyns Farm, then ride under the limbo bridge to reach the castle. A snack & drink break is planned here so you can have some refreshments, take pictures of the ruins or just stretch your legs with a walk around our local piece of history.
Who is this trip for?
Beginner to intermediate.
This is a relative beginner friendly tour starting with an on land briefing, followed by a short refresher lesson to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident on their board. With easy launching, sheltered waters, and no portaging we should be in for an easy ride.
