The Baton of Hope event in Basingstoke is a key moment in the national movement to create a zero-suicide society. As part of the Baton of Hope UK campaign, this event aims to spark meaningful conversations, raise awareness, and inspire hope around suicide prevention in the local community.
Timetable for the day
The first stop will see us take the Baton along the Basingstoke Canal in the John Pinkerton (huge thank you to our friends at John Pinkerton Canal Cruises for donating this).
We’ll then take farm transport to Winchfield Station, highlighting the rise in suicide amongst our farming communities and the impact this has.
We’ll then take the train from Winchfield to Basingstoke, remembering those who have been lost to and impacted by suicide on the railways.
Once at Basingstoke the Baton will head to Belvedere House, Basing View where are Inclusion EB8 service is based.
After the launch here we’ll head to the Anvil, Camrose Centre, Basingstoke Sports Centre, The Tea Bar and finishing at The Orchards at 4:30pm.
Each stop will bring different activities, exhibitions, displays, and information, along with Mental Health First Aiders supporting at every point.
