My Oh My, It’s Time for Pie!
Pies are as American as pizza: we took a great idea, adapted it to our needs and ran with it. Our forebearers used what they had available locally and made the most from it. You might be thinking that pies are just for dessert, but for our American ancestors, they were often considered survival food. Sometimes, they ate pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner for months at a time.
Everyone is invited to attend the presentation, “History of American Pies... and Illinois is well Represented!” hosted by the Bartlett History Museum on Wednesday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. Catherine Lambrecht, who achieved Grand Champion and Best of Show at the Lake County Fair for her apple pie, will present the history of pies in America and our state’s contributions to our country’s pie culture.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments, if you would like to come early, with a 6:45 p.m. pre-program by the museum. Lambrecht’s presentation begins at 7:00 p.m.
