Wednesday 1st October
10.30-4pm WHAT NEXT? Creative Ageing in Barrow & Beyond Opening Day & Summit – talks, performances, free lunch and refreshments.
Marking the International Day of Older Person and as part of BarrowFull’s commitment to action research and learning about excellent community engagement, guests from around the UK and world convene in Barrow Town Hall to discuss, present and reflect on past and current Creative Ageing Work, the work of older artists, and ask what’s next, here and elsewhere for older people engaging with the arts, including older artists.

4:30 – 5.30pm Performances by International Older Artists
Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th October
10-10.45am Morning Warm-up – ease into the day with this gentle session.
11.15-1.15pm Choose from:
Clowning / Mime Workshop – share talents, styles and voices, without using words!
Indian Dance Workshop – an accessible introduction to movement from an experienced Indian dancer.
Samba Drumming Workshop – a high energy, inclusive, safe workshop to explore music together.
2.30-4.30pm choose from:
Theatre Workshop – explore theatre and creativity with others
Creative Writing Workshop – find the words that get us closest to what we want to say and create poetry
Visual Arts Workshop – explore Zen gardens, calligraphy and traditional Japanese art.
FREE lunch and refreshments every day!
Plus drop-in circus skills and skateboarding workshops
Plus ++ on Friday 5-6pm: Mr Wong’s Tea Ceremony how to enjoy a cup of tea in this performance experience.
The programme is the same all 3 days so you could take part in all 6 workshops, if you’d like!

3.30-5pm WHAT NEXT? Closing Celebration (straight after Age UK & Forum On Tour’s Silver Sunday event)
Who can take part?
Anyone who lives in Barrow and is over 60, although if you are interested and live outside Barrow please get in touch.

We completely understand. Do feel free to get in touch with any questions, concerns and comments you have. We can talk through the activities with you and explain more about what they will involve. We can meet you in person if you like, so that when you get here if you see a familiar face.

We want everyone to be able to take part in this. All of the activities are accessible to all, but it might suit you to get in touch and find out how we can exactly meet your particular needs, or those of someone you know. If you or a friend haven’t got transport, we can arrange this for you. Please do get in touch – we really want to hear from you and want to help make this work for everyone who wants to get involved.
