Document Shredding
Residents from the Village of Barrington and other Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) communities are eligible to participate in the Document Destruction Event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 18 in the Metra North Commuter Lot near Wool Street and Klingenberg Lane.
Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools, or institutions. Identification will be checked for verification of residency. There is a limit of six file boxes or paper bags per vehicle, and plastic and metal clips or binders must be removed. IMPORTANT: This recycling event does not include electronics. Electronics can be picked up at your curb by calling Groot at (800) 244-1977.
Textile Recycling
Community-wide textile recycling will be offered. No proof of residency is required to participate. The public can bring unwanted clothing, shoes, household and kitchen items, accessories, and toys for recycling. Unaccepted items include furniture, wet/moldy clothing, electronics, paints, cleaners/ liquids and mattresses. For a complete list of accepted items, visit www.barrington-il.gov/recycling.
Fill a Public Works Truck Food Drive
The Village will also be hosting a food drive to benefit the Barrington Township and Cuba Township Food Pantries. Those interested in participating should bring non-expired, non-perishable food to help fill a Public Works Truck with your items. Food donations are appreciated but not required. Cash donations will also be accepted.
