REHEARSALS: Mon - Thurs evenings and Sun afternoons OR evenings. There will be a read-thru and some preliminary rehearsals in November and/or December, with January 2026 starting 5 nights a week. Exact schedule based on cast availability.

ABOUT THE SHOW:
The TAP (Teen Arts Project) show returns this season with two one-acts – all about the challenges of being a teenager! In THE INTERNET IS DISTRACT–OH LOOK A KITTEN!, Micah only has twenty minutes to finish her school paper. She just needs to check a few facts on the internet first. Unfortunately, the web is a nefariously wacky place where boxing cats, Facebook lurkers, and pig-throwing games threaten to take over Micah’s schoolwork, or worse. Will she finish her paper and escape with her life before the school bell rings? And in BOX, our teens explore the ways in which the world sees us – or the “boxes” we are placed into. Sometimes our box is defined by others – our parents, our friends, our enemies. A box built by others can feel small, confined, impossible. How do we handle the boxes imposed upon us because of our gender? Our race? From peer pressure? From parent pressure? Do we have to live with our box for the rest of our lives? Can we change?

I am overjoyed to be directing I Have 99 Problems and Being a Teenager is All of Them, featuring The Internet is Distract—OH LOOK A KITTEN! and Box! This production is a dynamic and thought-provoking exploration of the teenage experience, blending humor, chaos, and heartfelt moments into a theatrical journey that deeply resonates with me. I hope it resonates with you as well. This show reflects the struggles, distractions, and triumphs that define adolescence. I was particularly drawn to these plays’ ability to capture the fast-paced, overwhelming nature of modern life—especially through the lens of the internet, social pressures, and self-discovery. Our production fully embraces a high-energy, visually engaging approach that mirrors the wild and often unpredictable world our characters navigate, ensuring that every moment feels alive and relatable. Prepare yourself for a show that is as hilarious, chaotic, and heartfelt as the teenage experience itself. Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, and for being part of this incredible adventure. ABOUT AUDITIONS:
Director Melina Zimet is seeking a strong group of actors – AGES 12 - 19 – to cast in these two one-act plays, which will be performed together with an intermission in between. Actors who are cast will be featured in both plays. Both shows are true ensemble pieces, and every actor will be playing at least two characters – probably more. We strongly encourage you to read both scripts prior to auditions.
Auditions will consist of reading from the script – group scenes and monologues. Exact script sides will be emailed to those signed up about a week before auditions. Callbacks will be held Wednesday, October 15 at 7PM and are by invitation only.
