A Conversation with Lamar Van Dyke and Adrienne Rosen
Part of the Day of Pink’s ECHO Tour: Echoes of Resistance. Echoes of Recognition. Echoes of Change.
This fall, Day of Pink’s ECHO Tour travels across Canada, bringing together powerful storytellers, poets, activists, and community leaders to share the 2SLGBTQIA+ stories that once faced censorship—and still fight for space today. From courtrooms to bookstores, family tables to federal law, queer and trans voices have always resisted silence.
This year’s tour honours that resistance, marking 25 years since two defining moments in Canadian queer history:
* The Little Sisters Bookstore v. Canada Supreme Court case
* The passing of the Modernization of Benefits and Obligations Act
But this tour isn’t just about the past, it’s about the stories still echoing now. Stories like those of Adrienne Rosen and Lamar Van Dyke, members of the Brunswick Four, who were arrested in 1974 after a now-iconic protest in Toronto. Their actions ignited one of the first national conversations about lesbian rights in Canada, often referred to as “Canada’s Stonewall.”
Join us for an extraordinary evening with Lamar Van Dyke and Adrienne Rosen, two of the original Brunswick Four, as they reflect on the uprising that helped ignite the modern queer rights movement in Canada. From police brutality to public outcry, their story is one of solidarity, survival, and unapologetic resistance.
This powerful conversation will explore the legacy of the Brunswick Four, what’s changed and what hasn’t for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Canada. Presented in partnership with Day of Pink, the event invites a new generation to carry forward the fire of queer activism.
Join us at Lux Cinema for an inspiring evening of storytelling, conversation, and connection as part of the Banff Pride Speaker Series.
Tickets are free, but seating is limited. Advance registration is strongly encouraged to guarantee your spot. We welcome donations at the time of booking or at the door to support the ongoing work of the Banff Pride Society.
