Backwoodsmen - LIVE in Concert!

The Shelter Valley Concert Series 2025 Season continues the Made In Canada Live & Local Magic featuring Backwoodsmen revisiting traditional Ontario folk songs. Plus, Special Guest Stephen Bruce Medd.

Peterborough County has one of North America's richest folk-song traditions. Between 1929 and 1959, internationally recognized scholars documented more than 3,000 orally transmitted folk songs in the region. This little known piece of local history is presented by Backwoodsmen.

Backwoodsmen is Al Kirby on dobro and guitar, Rob Cory on guitar and harmonica, and Rob Niezen on guitar and mandolin. The group created contemporary arrangements and adapted lyrics, resulting in Cross Cut - a CD and illustrated songbook.

The Shelter Valley Concert Series is a monthly series of concerts by area performers presented on the fourth Wednesday of each month from March to November at the Vernonville Community Centre in the heart of Shelter Valley.

PLEASE NOTE: Advance Tickets are available online only until midnight Tuesday, October 21. Advance Tickets are not available on the day of the show. At-the-door Tickets - if available - are $30 (cash only).
