River Dee Trust Volunteer Day - Tree Planting Fri 5th Dec at Glen Muick

Join us in celebrating International Volunteer Day with a day of riparian tree planting along the River Muick, near Ballater, as part of the River Dee Trust’s award-winning One Million Trees campaign.

Set in the beautiful backdrop of Glen Muick Estate, we’ll be inviting volunteers to join the River Dee Team in planting native trees on the Friday 5th December to help;

• add vital cooling shade to our warming waters
• stabilise our riverbanks and help prevent erosion
• improve the retention of rainwater by the land
• and improve important nutrients through falling leaf litter

Every tree planted takes us one step closer to our One Million Tree target, helping ensure that our special freshwater species, like the endangered Atlantic salmon, have essential cold clean water for their future survival in these upland habitats.

The day will start at 10am and finish by 3pm, meeting at the Ballater Church Square Carpark, where we will drive in convoy up to the site location for the day.

All equipment for the activity will be provided by the River Dee Team, all that we ask is that you come prepared for outdoor conditions with warm and waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear and enthusiasm!
