Classical guitarist Aleksandr Tsiboulski, first-prize winner in twelve international competitions and highly regarded internationally for his recitals and recordings, joins forces with juggernaut Melbourne-based ensemble Eclective who have skyrocketed into the classical music scene with their extraordinary performances, adventurous collaborations and dynamic programs. Together, these award-winning musicians collaborate to present a vibrant tapestry of works from across the centuries.

Boccherini’s much-loved quintet for guitar and string quartet celebrates Fandango, the popular and sensuous two-person dance of 18th-century Spain. Australian composer Holly Harrison’s Balderdash, ranging in its influences from punk rock to bluegrass, grunge and prog-rock to metal and disco, is an exploration of musical ideas inspired by the electric guitar, including distortion, white noise, whammy bars, power-chords, dive-bombs, wah-wah, phaser effects, slap bass, and speaker feedback. We return to Spain with Asturias (Leyenda) by Isaac Albeniz, his fragrant evocation of virtuosic Andalusian flamenco, before concluding with a powerful classically reimagined homage to the songs of Australian pub rock icons, Cold Chisel.
