The Timber Girl

Ballachulish Community Association (BCA) is delighted to bring this acclaimed short play about the life of the Timber Girls based in Glen Etive to the Village Hall.

The play lasts around 45 minutes and teas will be served after the event.

Step into the boots of a teenage "Timber Girl" from Argyll. This evocative play by Three Wee Crows Theatre Company sheds light on the courageous young women of the Women's Timber Corps who took to Scotland's forests during World War II, felling trees and fueling the war effort while the men were away.

Timber Girls were a vital yet often overlooked branch of the Women's Land Army. These women, some as young as 14, were trained in the demanding tasks of forestry- felling, measuring, and transporting timber across Scotland. Their work was crucial in sustaining infrastructure during that time, yet their contributions remained largely unrecognised.

The Timber Girl is more than a play; it's a tribute to the resilience and spirit of the women who kept Scotland's timber industry alive during its darkest hours. By attending, you're honouring their legacy and ensuring their stories are remembered.
