Mawio’mi: A gathering of friends, Elders, youth, and community members with activities, food, song, and prayer, creating a welcoming and safe space for all.

The Barra Strait Mi'kmaq Friendship Festival - Mawio’mi Tewitk launches its first year at the Grand Narrows Waterfront, bringing together Mi’kmaq and non-Mi’kmaq communities in a vibrant celebration of friendship, culture, and connection.

- Plus more programming to come!
Our Vision:
This new event is the first step in what we hope will grow into an annual tradition that creates more opportunities for Mi’kmaq and non-Mi’kmaq communities to come together, share traditions, learn from each other, and celebrate the things we have in common while honoring what makes each of us unique!
Get Involved:
There is still an opportunity to participate or partner. Whether through performing, hosting a table, sponsoring, or lending a hand, your involvement can help make this first year a celebration of the friendships that bring our communities together.
