If you are running the LA Marathon, or any spring marathon, the Glendora Ridge Runners invite you to our workout on Tuesday, February 17th, at 6.00 PM.
This iconic workout consists of 10 X 800 repeats and helps you decide if your goal pace for your marathon is realistic. Your average time for the 10 - 800s predicts your marathon time. So 4 minutes, zero seconds (4.00) for all 10 predicts that you should be able to run close to 4 hours for your race. See more in comments for the history of Yassos.
Even if you are not running an upcoming marathon, we can use pace group leaders who could run maybe the first 5 or second 5 repeats with our marathoners. It will be a long night. With warm up, 10 repeats, 10 recovery laps and cooldown, we are at 9-10 miles. We will be at the track until everyone completes the workout. Yassos are done strategically after your 3 week-out long run. If you do your long run on Saturday, 2/14, you will have 3.5 days to recover before this workout.
We will provide music, hydration and fuel. Let me know if you can bring water, gatorade. gu, etc.
