1940s Themed Coffee Morning - 'The Beginning and End of the Second World War''

1940s-Themed Coffee Morning, Thursday 4th September, 10am.

Even though Britain commemorated Victory over Japan (VJ) Day on 15th August in reality, the war was not officially brought to an end until 2nd September 1945 with the signing of the Instrument of Surrender. On 3rd September 1939, Britain declared war on Germany which saw Britain’s involvement in the Second War begin. This meant the Second World War lasted almost exactly six years. To mark the 80th anniversary of the end and the 86th anniversary of the beginning of the war, Axminster Heritage will be holding a special 1940s-themed Coffee Morning in the Bradshaw Meeting Room between 10am – 12pm. We are delighted to announce that we will also be joined on the day by talented local vocalist, Jay Hobday who will be singing songs from the 1940s. Join us for a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake made from traditional wartime recipes.
