This Safety Boat course is the next step in powerboating. Throughout this 2-day course running 9am -5pm each day, you will learn more advanced skills and techniques in your driving. As a confident powerboat driver, use this course to expand your competence to include advanced safety techniques and fleet safety skills. Perfect for club safety cover and a pre-requisite qualification for the RYA Senior Instructor course.
Course syllabus
Preparation, boat handling, dinghy rescue, windsurfer rescue, kayak or canoe rescue (can be covered as theory), towing, end-of-day procedures, safety, suitability of craft, local factors, communication, rescuing other water users
Example day
Morning session
Typically run from 9:30, you will be welcomed by our team for registration. Please ensure that participants have been signed in by staff before you leave the site. At the course start time the instructors will come and meet the participants.
Once all participants are happy and fully equipped with all the clothing they need, then the activity sessions will get underway!
Everyone will break for lunch midway through the day*.
Afternoon session
After lunch, activity sessions will resume.
The course will wrap up typically arround 16:30
