AUSTIN, AS FAR AS WE KNOW, THE PERFORMANCE CLUB
HAS NOT BEEN REALIZED ANYWHERE ELSE!
The Performance Club operates on the belief that live performance is a catalyst for audiences and performers. By providing time for audiences to witness a live performance and immediately process the performance individually, in their own way, through writing, drawing, dancing, resting, meditating, etc., unforeseen insights arise. The Performance Club is not about critique, and no one imposes their exploration on anyone else. It is a community experiment that provides audiences and performers the opportunity to notice how they influence and inspire one another.
How else can you support? Aside from being a member, you can also sponsor a performance space rental for one of our 6 artists at 250 dollars (50 dollars per performance day).

“Thank you for the opportunity to develop this work as part of Performance Club. It was the perfect context to jumpstart this piece. I learned so much. Initially, I don't think I totally understood Performance Club, but now I understand just how brilliant and unique it is. Thanks for this gift.”

TITLE:
Workshopping L. Gilbreth
A performance research experiment based on the Mother of Modern Management, pioneer of the work triangle.
"Successful management of the old type was an art based on no measurement. Scientific Management is an art based upon a science, — upon laws deducted from measurement. Management continues to be what it has always been, — the art of directing activity." - Lillian M. Gilbreth
BIOGRAPHY
Amy Chiao is a multimedia artist, performer, designer, and director working in site-specific performance installation, collage, and video. From Cerritos, California, Chiao comes from a family of Cantonese musicians and composers, opera singers, and mannequin manufacturers. Her work strives to uncover and dimensionalize the fictitious nature of society through dramaturgy, narratology, and speculative design strategies.
She holds a BFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and an MFA in Scene Design with a concentration in Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). She currently resides in Austin, Texas, designing CMF (color/material/finish) stories for industrial robotics.
Her practice has been generated through a wide range of production spaces from community media stations, live theater, to product corporations including the cable access TV station Open Signal Portland Community Media, the clown cohort at Coho Theater, and Nike Inc. Her work has been shown at Automata Theater, Human Resources (LA), The Elysian Theater, REDCAT Roy & Edna Disney Calarts Theater, the LA State Historic Park, Walt Disney Modular Theater Lobby, Killjoy Collective, the Portland Art Museum, and the RISD Museum.
