Info: Curt Cowley is the FAASTeam Program Manager for Airworthiness for the Portland FSDO. Curt has 16 years with the FAA, and over 40 years as a A&P (IA) and Private Pilot. He owns, maintains, and flies a 1950 Aeronca Sedan, and a 1946 Aeronca Champ. He will present an overview of safety trends, accidents, and pilot deviations from the Portland District for 2024, and touch on the first three quarters of 2025.
Info: As well as being the Airport Director at Eugene Airport, Cathryn Stephens is also the Chairperson of the Oregon State Aviation Board, which advises the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODAV) on policy issues, develops recommendations on key aviation issues and provides guidance to ODAV. After flying in, out or over almost every state in the nation, Phil has learnt a thing or two about mountain flying. Let's benefit from Phil's experience and hear his top tips, so we can marvel at the stunning scenery below, whilst also being ready for "what if...".
Info: Kevin Johnson, the Oregon Ambassador for the RAF, will tell us more about this wonderful organization, what it provides to its members, and what all of us can do to help protect, safeguard and improve our lesser-known airstrips. The RAF mission says a lot, “The Recreational Aviation Foundation preserves, improves, and creates airstrips for recreational access", but it is up to all of us to make it happen.
