City of St. Augustine to host inaugural St. Augustine Community Table event
A collaboration with Flagler College and St. Augustine Sister Cities Association
The City of St. Augustine, in collaboration with Flagler College and St. Augustine Sister Cities Association, will host a first-ever event, St. Augustine Community Table: Sharing food. Sharing stories. Sharing heritage, on Friday, March 27, from 12:00–2:30 p.m. The event will take place on Sevilla Street between Valencia and King Streets in the heart of downtown St. Augustine and the Flagler College campus.
Inspired by community table traditions such as El Bollo in St. Augustine’s sister city, Avil?s, Spain, and The Longest Table, the St. Augustine Community Table reflects centuries of gathering, hospitality, and human connection. Set against the historic backdrop of the Nation’s Oldest City and the Flagler College campus, neighbors are invited to come together at one shared table — celebrating culture, conversation, and community.
City Commissioner Cynthia Garris traveled to Avil?s, Spain, in 2025, and experienced the El Bollo Festival first-hand. “The streets were lined with tables as far as you could see and people were just sitting at the tables, sharing a meal, talking, and laughing… it was so inspiring to see their community come together like that,” Garris said of her experience. “When I got back, I thought “we should do something like this – we can do this!” and so, here we are… I’m very excited!”
St. Augustine Community Table reflects the spirit of collaboration between Flagler College, the City of St. Augustine, and St. Augustine Sister Cities Association. The event brings together members of the Flagler College campus, the City of St. Augustine City Commissioners and staff, and our community of neighborhoods, residents, business owners, and stakeholders, to share a meal, have meaningful dialogue, and walk away with a better understanding of the people around us.
St. Augustine Sister Cities Association volunteers will serve as event ambassadors and table hosts, engaging with attendees, sharing stories of their own experiences at El Bollo and how being part of this cultural experience enriches our community’s Spanish heritage.
The afternoon will feature live entertainment by ZaZa Flamenca and offer a welcoming, family-style atmosphere designed to spark conversation and connection across generations and backgrounds.
Tickets are $20 per person and include a meal, a signature event memento, and live entertainment. Meals must be selected at the time of registration.
