Orthodox Christianity in the US

Join us for panel discussion about growth of Orthodox Christianity in the U.S. Speakers include His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of Xanthos (retired); Archon Dr. George E. Demacopoulos, Chair of Orthodox-Christian Studies at Fordham University; Rev. Fr. Joseph Kwame Labi of Accra, Ghana; Archon Carl Hollister, Director of St. Photios Greek Orthodox Shrine; and V. Rev. Fr. Maximos Politis, Parish Priest at Holy Trinity Church. Thomas Lekas, Holy Trinity Church parish council president, will moderate.

Topics of discussion will include the recent growth of Orthodox Christianity in the US, focusing on causes, demographics, challenges, and future impact (parish growth, engaging with American culture). Key questions involve understanding why people convert to a seemingly "complex" faith, how the Church is responding to this influx, and what challenges like potential political polarization or cultural assimilation pose for the future of American Orthodoxy.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of St Augustine is located on County Road 214 (also known as West King Street) west of St Augustine on the North side of the road prior to crossing over the I-95 overpass. It is not accessible directly from I-95; instead access from either State Road 207 (Exit 311) or State Road 16 (Exit 318, or downtown St Augustine).
