Yom Teruah is two weeks away! 📯
What even is that, you may ask. It is the first of the biblical fall feasts, Yahveh's feasts. These feasts are detailed in Leviticus 23, Yom Teruah specifically in verses 23-25.
Leviticus 23:23-25 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, "Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘In the seventh new moon, on the first day of the new moon, you have a rest, a remembrance of Teru‛ah, ‘You do no servile work, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to יהוה.’ ”
This feast ushers in the final set of Yahveh's annual holidays. Yom Teruah in Hebrew means Day of Sounding. It is a day for clamor, for joy or battle. It is a day of noise making! So grab a trumpet, shofar (ram's horn), or another noisemaker (your own voice counts too) and rejoice for all that Yahveh is, has done, and will yet do!
On the biblical calendar, this day falls on the first of the seventh month. From our understanding, biblical months are determined by the spotting of the first crescent of the new moon. We will meet at the park to spy out the moon, make noise, make music, read scripture, and fellowship. Bring a biblically clean snack to share.
