About the event

Winter Tree Identification Workshop
Join the Kennebec County Soil & Water Conservation District and Viles Arboretum for a hands-on Winter Tree Identification Workshop, led by Maine Forest Service District Foresters Julie Davenport and Jared Gregory.

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to identifying trees without leaves using buds, bark, and other key winter characteristics.

What to Expect:
Indoor session using cut samples to learn:
Key winter tree ID vocabulary
What features to look for
How to use a tree identification key
Outdoor portion exploring live trees on site
Focus on identifying approximately 10 common Maine tree species
All participants will receive printed winter tree ID resources, including a free Forest Trees of Maine guide

The Maine Forest Service Foresters are generously donating their time for this workshop.
