Celebrate the Festival of Adult Learning Ahurei Ākonga with English Language Partners New Zealand . The week aims to celebrate the efforts of all adults involved in lifelong learning, enabling them to fully participate in daily life in Aotearoa New Zealand. This week is supported by ACE Aotearoa, TEC and UNESCO.
Come along on Saturday 13th September to our New Lynn office for an "open home" event, to experience what it's like to volunteer and teach at ELP and to find out more about the great work our volunteer home tutors do with our 1:1 learners. You can join in one, or all, of these great activities:
1:00-2:00pm – Experience what it's like being preliterate
🏫Anyone is welcome to join us for this language lesson (Sorry - no children)
🏫One of our staff will lead you through a lesson learning a new language from the beginning. This is always the highlight of our volunteer tutor training course.
🏫 We'll have some snacks and refreshments for you to enjoy too.
2:00-3:00pm - The refugee journey and how we teach English
🏫Anyone is welcome to join this workshop. (Sorry - no children)
🏫 You'll learn about the refugee journey to NZ and take part in some activities to learn about how to teach English.

3:00-4:00pm - Afternoon tea and volunteer catch up
🏫Anyone is welcome to join this session. (Sorry - no children)
🏫 This is an opportunity for current and potential volunteer home tutors to catch up. One of our team will be facilitating this session and be able to answer your questions.
