Inaugural Lecture of Professor Vili Nosa
We are proud to share the Inaugural Lecture of Professor Vili Nosa at the University of Auckland - an important milestone that celebrates Pacific excellence and the significant impact of Niue and Pacific communities in both health research and academia.
In his lecture, Vai Mamali: Smiling Water, Professor Vili will reflect on his journey as a Niue academic and acknowledge the key influences and people who have shaped his academic path: his family, community and mentors.
His pioneering research in Pacific health, particularly in addictions, men’s health, and Pacific health workforce development, has had a transformative impact. With over 130 research publications and more than $20 million in research funding, his work continues to drive positive change in the Pacific health sector.
Professor Vili’s leadership in mentoring over 100 students, including 15 completed PhDs, and his advocacy for growing the Pacific health workforce globally, has made a lasting impact both in New Zealand, the region and internationally.
