This Filemu Zine workshop invites participants to create a zine that celebrates home, family, and intergenerational knowledge through the playful art of zine-making and collage. Drawing on the themes of Auckland Council Libraries exhibition Lupe I Vao Ese, participants will reflect on their own measina or cultural treasures and piece together images, words, and mixed media. A celebration of physical media, this workshop is not about making “perfect art” but about embracing intuitive making, memory, and remixing what we already carry with us.
Central Auckland raised, tauiwi writer and world builder Taualofa Totua (she/they) is a Samoan (Afega, Malie) Tongan (Holonga, Vava’u) multidisciplinary maker. She embraces being a big sis, moody shapeshifter and courageous dreamer. Filemu is a fluid passion project and independent online/print space that disrupts colonial patterns through gentle and intentional methods of resistance. Filemu aims to share radical hope and joyful community making through zines and workshops.
Supported by the City Centre Targeted Rate.
