About the event

We Got The Jazz: The Jazz Of A Tribe Called Quest - a salute to our comrade, Malcolm-Jamal Warner
A Salute To Our Comrade, Malcolm-Jamal Warner

This special night, we honor our brother, Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Alongside our originally planned performance, We Got The Jazz: The Jazz of A Tribe Called Quest, the evening will feature surprise guest appearances and heartfelt performances from Malcolm’s family and friends.

A Tribe Called Quest didn’t just change the game—they rewrote the rules. With razor-sharp lyrics, irresistible beats, and an inventive blend of timeless jazz samples, they became more than a group—they became a cultural force. Now, we’re bringing that legendary sound to life in a reimagined live show that dives deep into their musical soul.

Step into an unforgettable journey through the jazz roots that shaped Tribe’s groundbreaking catalog. From the first familiar riff reimagined live, you’ll feel the magic where Hip-Hop and jazz collide.

Fronted by Atlanta’s own Dashill Smith—a trumpet virtuoso, magnetic performer, and freestyle dynamo—this all-star ensemble delivers a high-energy tribute:
Khari Cabral Simmons (India.Arie, Jiva) – Music Director & bass, laying down grooves that keep you moving.

Landon Anderson – drums, bringing the heartbeat of the show.

DJ LV – turntables, spinning and weaving sounds into pure head-nod gold.

Rodney Edge – keys, adding smooth, soulful improvisations.

David Whild – guitar, delivering electrifying riffs.

Mike Walton – tenor sax, crafting rich, jazzy melodies that define the sound.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner – Grammy winner, on bass, trumpet, and vocals, bringing his unmistakable artistry to the stage. Rest In Power

Conceived by Craig M. Garrett of Next Level Events—sparked by an overheard debate about Hip-Hop’s jazz influence—this show celebrates one of music’s most innovative groups and the genre-blending brilliance they inspired.
This isn’t just a concert—it’s an experience. You’ll sing. You’ll dance. You’ll vibe from start to finish. Whether you’re a lifelong Tribe fan or discovering their genius for the first time, this is a night you can’t miss.
