Two Films, One Planet: Free Climate Week Screenings at ScienceWorks
ScienceWorks is proud to participate in Climate Week NYC by hosting a free film screening in partnership with the DC Environmental Film Festival. Join us on Saturday, September 27 at 3:30 PM in the Science Theater for two award-winning documentaries that explore the human stories behind climate change.

The films will be shown back-to-back with a short intermission in between, followed by a discussion led by Executive Director, Gabriela Chavarria. Admission to the film screenings is free and includes entry to the Science Theater only. Museum exhibits require separate admission. Space is limited, so please book your tickets in advance. https://www.scienceworksmuseum.org/two-films-one-planet-free-climate-week-screenings-at-scienceworks

🎥 CHASING TIME
If a single photo can inspire change, what can a million images do?

Over the course of 15 years, photographer James Balog and his team carried out the Extreme Ice Survey, one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken to document climate change. With over a million images, their work brought striking visual evidence of rapidly melting glaciers to the global stage.

Directed by Jeff Orlowski-Yang (Chasing Ice, Chasing Coral, The Social Dilemma) and filmmaker Sarah Keo, Chasing Time is a thoughtful meditation on time, mortality, and the power of an intergenerational effort to inspire hope and action.

🎥 HERDERS AT THE EDGE
In Mongolia, horse trainer Amraa and 11-year-old jockey Jantska prepare their stallion for the Naadam summer festival race. But as climate change threatens their way of life, the future of this cherished tradition is uncertain.

Produced by Zaya Delgerjargal, a 2024 Yale Reporting Fellow and Climate Science Fellow at Reuters, this short film reveals how global challenges ripple into cultural traditions and personal dreams.
