Tending Grief in Troubled Times
6 session, in-person healing gathering
Wednesday evenings October 8 - November 19 (skip 10/29)
5:30 - 7:30pm
(Please see registration details at bottom of description.)
We live in troubled times in which many of us can’t bear to read another horrible headline. We mourn for the Earth, our neighbors, victims of violence and oppression, and for ourselves and our families. You likely have also experienced some sort of personal loss: death of a loved one, relationship ending, financial fear, and the loss of a sense of security while upheaval happens all around us.
Yet, in our culture, we are expected to muster on despite the pain we feel about great hardship and loss in the world. These losses are real and impactful, and there are healthy, adaptive ways of tending to personal and collective grief in order to remain healthy and strong. When we intentionally honor grief we are better able to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, and carry on with life with hope of helping to create a more beautiful world.
If you’ve struggled with overwhelm, depression, shock, or hopelessness (all manifestations of untended grief)) when facing everything in your personal life AND the intensity of what’s happening in the world around us, you need and deserve support and care to help you heal. I invite you to join me for a 6-week, in person, grief tending and healing group.
In this community grief work experience you will:
*Be witnessed, honored, and validated in your grief
*Engage your creative side to express grief through writing, art, music, and ritual
*Be held as part of a caring community and get out of isolation
*Learn about the multifaceted nature of normal and healthy grief
*Learn practices for tending to your own grief
*Learn to support others who are grieving
*Connect with valuable resources to support you in your grief healing process
*Deepen your capacity for grief, which will deepen your capacity for experiencing gratitude and joy
This series will be facilitated by Justina Prenatt, a deeply compassion based therapist who has supported the community in grief work and healing from bereavement and loss for over 12 years. Justina is also a poet, priestess, and spirit-led activist who deftly combines practical, evidence-based healing approaches with grounded yet powerful ways of connecting with the wisdom and energies of the natural world.
